Graduate Case Studies
We began our journey into the world of graduate recruitment in 2002 on an informal basis, when Sarah Watson, a bright and enthusiastic graduate joined us at L&Q.
The benefits of employing dynamic, enthusiastic people of Sarah's calibre soon became apparent and in January 2004 we began our first structured programme with six graduates from a variety of academic backgrounds.
Here, some of our graduates share their thoughts and experiences of life at L&Q.
Katie Dangerfield, one of our current Graduate Trainees, shares
her thoughts
After I completed my studies,
I was eager to work for a leading socially responsible business
that had an impact on improving and changing people's lives for the
better. At the same time I wanted to work for a rigorous and
innovative company that would challenge me and offer fast track
career progression. L&Q has a well recognised reputation as
being at the forefront of the housing industry.
As a company L&Q also knows how important it is to invest in it's staff. Offering substantial investment in training and development and providing generous staff benefit and rewards are some of the many reasons that made me apply for the graduate scheme at L&Q.
The myth that a career in Housing is regarded as 'dull' is far from reality, as I have since discovered. Working for a Housing Association can take many forms depending on the functions, size and location of the organisation. From managing a multi million pound budget, for a regeneration scheme to dealing with an anti-social behaviour case with a resident, highlights the diversity of roles within Housing.
Katie was recently interviewed for a feature piece in the Society Guardian.
