Neighbourhood Committees are formally constituted groups that involve residents in the decision making processes at neighbourhood level. Neighbourhood Committee members are consulted on a wide range of subjects that have an impact on the services that residents receive. They agree local service delivery plans, such as the local neighbourhood investment and resident involvement strategies, and approve local budgets. Members have the opportunity to comment on policies that affect their own neighbourhood, as well as policies that will affect all L&Q residents through interaction with the Resident Board.
Why join a Neighbourhood Committee?
Your Neighbourhood Committee provides an opportunity for you to have a say in how L&Q is run. By taking part, you will be able to meet senior managers and provide your feedback on new initiatives L&Q is considering, as well as areas of interest such as repairs, customer service and anti-social behaviour. You will be able to represent your local community and make a real difference in your neighbourhood.
How much of my time will it take up?
Neighbourhood Committees meet up to four times a year. Meetings are held in the evening in easily accessible locations in the local area. All members are expected to attend meetings and take an active part in the proceedings in order to represent residents effectively.
What do I need to join a Neighbourhood Committee?
Membership is open to all L&Q residents, including leaseholders and homeowners. Non-residents such as local councillors can also become members. Each Neighbourhood Committee will have up to 15 members.
What support will I receive?
We want to make participation in Neighbourhood Committees as easy as possible and will do our best to help and support you in your role. We will provide you with any training and development you may need to help you be an effective Neighbourhood Committee member. We will also reimburse travel expenses and childcare costs incurred in attending Neighbourhood Committee meetings.
Where is my local Neighbourhood Committee?
We have ten Neighbourhood Committees covering all of L&Q. Find out where your local
