What does my rent and/or service charge pay for?

Your rent is determined by the terms of your tenancy or lease. For tenants, L&Q uses rental income to pay for the cost of maintaining and insuring your property, plus contributing towards the organisation’s running costs. For shared owners rent is paid on the unsold equity on your property, as L&Q has financial commitments to meet with regard to this.

For all types of tenure, service charges represent residents’ contribution to services that L&Q deliver to the property. Items may include the cost of grounds maintenance, cleaning of communal areas, lift maintenance, communal electricity, and so on. Service charges will differ from property to property, depending on the facilities and services that we provide.
