L&Q's Group Board
The Group Board oversees all aspects of work carried out by the L&Q Group. The board is made up of individuals from a variety of backgrounds.
Meet the members:
Turlogh O'Brien CBE, Hon FCIBSE, FRSA
Chairman of the Group Board
Turlogh works part time for a global design and business consulting
firm. He has a background in research and development issues and
was made a CBE in 1999 for services to research and innovation in
construction. Turlogh is continuing his research interests and will
be looking in particular at ways of improving energy efficiency of
existing housing stock.
Diane Phillips BA, CB
Deputy Chair of the Group Board
Diane
is a retired senior civil servant who worked on housing,
regeneration and transport policies. She joined the L&Q Group
Board in 1999 and is chair of the Development Committee and Deputy
Chair of the Group Board.
David Montague FCCA
Group Chief Executive
David has been Group Chief Executive since February 2008.
Previously he was the Group Finance Director and has been at
L&Q since 1989 in a variety of roles.
Claire Martin MA, MSc, Fellow CIH, PGDSM
Claire
joined L&Q's Group Board on 31 March 2005. Claire is Head of
Supporting People at Kent County Council and has an MSc in Housing,
is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Housing, and has a Post
Graduate Diploma in Strategic Management
Robert Cooper FCA
Robert
was appointed to the Group Board in 2006 and is Chairman of the
Audit & Risk Committee.
Robert's career has been spent working as a finance director in industry and as an investment banker. He was appointed to the Group Board in 2006.
Brian Carroll MA (Cantab)
Brian
is a retired Finance Director of Waitrose. Prior to that he was a
senior Treasury civil servant. He is also a church commissioner and
a retail Consultant. He is a member of the Development and Audit
& Risk Committees.
Frank Chersky BA
A
resident of L&Q, Frank was involved in a number of committees
over the years before his appointment to the Group Board. He is
Chair of L&Qs Resident's Board and the North London
Neighbourhood Committee. He works for the NHS Registration
Authority covering Whittington Hospital, Islington and Haringey.
Frank serves on the Board of the Independent Housing Ombudsman
Service as a Tenant Director and is a member of their Audit &
Risk Committee.
Ron Goodman
Ron
retired from his position at the Croudace Homes Group Ltd in 2007,
after more than 30 years. During his last four years at the
company, he was responsible for setting up and managing Croudace
Homes in Partnership Ltd, the company in the group which built
specifically affordable homes for housing associations. He joined
the Board of Tower Homes in 2000, is a past chair of Zest Homes Ltd
and moved to the L&Q Board late 2007. He is also a member of
the Development and Audit & Risk Committees.
Russell Profitt MBE
Russell
has attained many years experience in a variety of roles throughout
his career ranging from working as a Head Teacher in Deptford to
being the Director of Services and Central Departments in
Southwark.
Alongside formal employment, Russell has played an active community
role through holding elected posts, or membership, or chairing
voluntary community projects and has sat on a number of advisory
bodies to government ministers. He served as a Lewisham
Councillor for thirteen years and was awarded an MBE for services
to the community in 2009.
Russell was appointed to the Group Board in 2010.
Chinnelle Anichebe
Chinnelle
is Vice Chair of the Residents Board and is Chair of the City and
Central Neighbourhood Committee. She is currently employed in an
international role with Pearson Edexcel, developing global
recognition and progression routes for Edexcel's vocational
qualifications. She is also involved in progressing global business
development projects. Prior to this, Chinnelle worked as a
consultant in roles reflecting her experience in communications,
fundraising and marketing. She has a BA in Business, a Postgraduate
Diploma in International Marketing and is a Prince 2
Practitioner.
Chinelle was appointed to the Group Board in 2010.
Joanna Killian
Joanna
is the Chief Executive of both Essex County Council and Brentwood
Borough Council. This was the first such arrangement in the
country. Prior to joining Essex Council, she held various roles
including Director of Performance and Improvement with the Audit
Commission. She started her career in housing and
regeneration. She has conducted central government capability
reviews on behalf of the Cabinet Office.
Joanna was appointed to the Group Board in 2010 and is a member
of the Audit & Risk Committee.
Helen Meyler
Helen
is a high-profile real estate lawyer and well known within the
industry. Formerly a partner and head of public sector group
at Davies Arnold Cooper, Helen has recently joined national law
firm Clarke Willmott.
Helen has a wealth of experience in commercial and residential development, including regeneration and mixed-use schemes, acting for and with both the private and public sectors.
Helen is a regular commentator on issues facing the industry, and writes articles and hosts events that bring together Housing Associations, house builders and local and central government figures involved in housing delivery. Helen joined the Group Board as a co-optee in November 2011.
Simon Rubinsohn
Simon is the Chief Economist for the Royal
Institution of Chartered Surveyors. In this role, he is responsible
for leading the economics and research team at the RICS in
providing timely analysis of developments in both the commercial
and residential property markets as well as in the construction
industry. He is also responsible for delivering the RICS suite of
high profile surveys measuring sentiment in different segments of
the property market, helping to develop RICS policy positions
alongside the External Affairs team and is a regular media
commentator. Prior to taking up this position, Simon was Senior
Strategist for Barclays Wealth where he played a key role in
setting and managing the asset allocation for client portfolios
focusing on a broad range of asset classes. Simon initially came
into the financial services industry in 1985 when he joined ANZ
Merchant Bank as a UK economist. Prior to this, he spent four years
lecturing in economics.
Simon joined the Group Board in November 2011.
