Local Information

Ruskin Walk is just a short stroll from the heart of Central London. Southwark is made up of eight urban neighbourhoods that extend along the river Thames and down into South East London, full of top attractions and scenic green spaces.

Landmarks such as Tower Bridge, the Millennium Bridge, City Hall and London Bridge are all close by, as is the historical Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. If you like shopping, you are only a few tube stops away from the delights of Oxford Street. Walworth Road in Southwark is one of the longest shopping streets in London and will take care of your everyday essentials. You can get your fruit and vegetables from East Street market, and Borough Market is probably the most famous food market
in the area.

For restaurants and nightlife, you are a 10 minute tube journey away from the bustling West End, full of bars, restaurants, clubs and pubs.

Southwark is packed full of culture and the arts – there is plenty for you to explore. The Tate Modern has a huge selection of international modern art on display. There is also the Royal Festival Hall and Hayward Gallery at the Southbank Centre – home to a diverse range of exhibitions, gigs and events; ranging from classical and world music, to literature and the visual arts.

For the active, you keep fit by walking and playing sports in one of the 130 parks and open spaces that Southwark has to offer, including the beautiful Burgess Park and Victory Community Gardens.
