Rubicon in Greenwich, South East London

Rubicon, in the heart of Greenwich, is undergoing major regeneration in a joint project by L&Q, Greenwich Council, Bellway Homes and Stock Woolstencroft.

The redevelopment started when L&Q won an open regeneration competition run by Greenwich Council in 2000 on the site of the former New Haddo estate.

Rubicon Development 2It will be completed later in 2008 and replace the original 203 homes with 510 new homes:
- 256 homes for outright sale
- 254 affordable homes (two-thirds of which will be for rent; one-third of which will be for shared ownership / intermediate market rent)

These will be a mix of houses, flats and maisonettes, including homes adapted homes for people with disabilities. The different tenures will be mixed together and benefit from the same design quality.

Rubicon won a London Planning Award for ‘Excellence in Affordable Housing Delivery’ in January 2008. It was praised for its good quality design, provision of family accommodation and tenure mix.
