Bellefield Road is in St Mary Cray, Orpington, Kent.
L&Q has already made a significant contribution to the regeneration of a disused area in St Mary Cray with the creation of eight new family homes in Bellefield Road.
The second stage will build on this success by providing a further thirteen, 3 bedroom family homes, including two that will be fully accessible for wheelchair users.
L&Q will also be investing heavily in the surrounding road network to help improve the lives of local residents.
Completion of the new homes is scheduled for September 2007.
Contractor: Green Acre
Employer’s agent: Airey Miller Partnership
Architect: The Hards Partnership
Due to the site’s proximity to an ancient Anglo-Saxon burial ground, English Heritage required a ‘Schedule of Ancient Monument Consent’ to be attained for the site. Exploratory trial holes and excavations had to be undertaken before work could be begun.
After this initial delay works have remained on programme. The 13 houses and upgraded road are due to handover in December.
