Blooming Brilliant

Jubilee Court, a sheltered housing scheme in Haringey has been awarded the winner of the L&QSL's ‘In Bloom’ competition.

The award presentation was attended by both David Montague and the Mayor of Haringey and took place on 15 July 2008.

A small incentive of £50 was offered for each entry. Residents at Jubilee Court alone raised and spent over £700 of their own funds towards their gardens, the impact of which has benefited everyone living in the scheme.

Sonia Bernard, L&QSL’s Head of Quality said "the intention behind this was to get residents working together in a very practical way to improve their environment. Jubilee Court is a prime example of just what a little encouragement can do. The scheme looks absolutely stunning. Residents are already looking forward to it being even better next year."

A further three schemes were recognised for their efforts:

  • Siedle House, Greenwich - Most improved
  • Bowes Close, Bexley - Most imaginative
  • Bodley House - Most committed gardener
