Management Development

At L&Q we recognise the important contribution managers make to developing our people. By on-the-job training, regular coaching and behaviour modelling managers are best placed to ensure our commitment to people development is met. We invest in a range of management development programmes to ensure our managers are properly equipped for their role as people developers.

Certificate in Management

At L&Q we think our managers need to be professional. Run in association with Nottingham Business School, one of the country’s leading open learning business centres, this development programme offers managers the opportunity to achieve a nationally-recognised professional management qualification, awarded by Nottingham Trent University.

Diploma in Team Leadership

Team leaders and supervisors are vital links in the management chain. They also have access to a Nottingham Business School development programme, which gives team leaders and supervisors the opportunity to achieve a professional management qualification. Successful team leaders and supervisors have automatic progression to the Certificate in Management programme.

Johanna Cole Traineeship

Named after its first recipient, this trainee post offers a BME member of staff the opportunity to move into management. By blending supervised work experience and formal training, the individual is equipped with the knowledge and skills to make a safe and structured transition into management.

Mary Gober Accredited Coach

L&Q places a high priority on standards of customer service. To help maintain this commitment and to drive up service standards, managers who are responsible for staff become Gober Method coaches, trained and accredited by Mary Gober, an international authority on service excellence.

Development Centres

Managers can volunteer to attend an independently-run, two-day assessment centre, which allows them to identify their development needs, in a safe and structured setting, and to agree a development plan for improving their future management performance.

Acting-up opportunities

From time-to-time opportunities arise for individuals to act-up into more senior positions. Under the tutelage of more experienced colleagues, fledgling managers and team leaders have the opportunity to practise and develop their skills.
